Flight Lieutenant S. Muhilan
The
body of Flight Lieutenant S. Muhilan piloting the helicopter shot down
along with three other ranks has still not been recovered. Muhilan also
leaves behind his wife and a two-year-old son.
The IAF said
Flight Lieutenant Muhilan, killed in action when his helicopter was downed
by a surface-to- air missile, was engaged in attempts to dislodge the intruders
from their missile fortified positions. The young officer from
Karnataka's
Belgaum district "made the supreme sacrifice during the air-to-ground
rocket attack against a heavily missile- defended area,'' said the IAF.
An experienced helicopter pilot, he has flown both the MI-8 and MI-17 choppers.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Bina Muhilan, and son Dhruv.
